Interior Designers
BDC has been designing and award-winning homes and businesses in the Sacramento area for over 30 years. We are always looking for energetic and creative interior designers to join our team. BDC has an open-office floorplan which is particularly conducive to a collaborative and fun environment.
While BDC has many components, we consider ourselves to be one large team and are looking for team players. Our ideal team member is personable, professional, motivated, a good communicator, resourceful, and bold. A knowledge of Archicad, Sketchup, Photoshop, Illustrator, and a Mac operating system is preferred.
Current Openings: Lead Designer
Responsibilities:
Manage and execute on projects from design to construction, handle most of the project management and working with team members to complete on time and on budget
Create preliminary client budgets and schedules, and update as needed
Review and send client proposals for approval
Oversee the construction process – meet with contractors, clients, and vendors on a regular basis to ensure that the design is executed to plan
Collaborate with contractors, clients, and vendors on creative solutions when issues or problems are identified
Prepare, manage, and maintain project files, correspondence, drawings, etc.
Respond to all client, vendor, and contractor emails, calls, or texts within 24 hrs
Manage and help with installations and styling
Create vision boards /storyboards/ specifications
Create floor plans, lighting plans, furniture plans and design concepts
Research and source furnishings, fixtures, and finishes, working with vendors
Create detailed permit and construction drawing sets, including plans, elevations, sections
Design and create construction drawings for interior architectural details, custom millwork, and furniture
Research specifications required for drawings
Work with team members to improve processes and update documentation as needed
Mentor less skilled and experienced designers to help them improve their skills
Required Qualifications/Experience:
Minimum 3 years of work experience in an interior design firm (not a showroom or furniture store)
A mix of both residential and commercial experience is preferred
Proven ability to be self-reliant
High level of professional maturity
BS/BA degree in Architecture or Interior Design
Technical Skills Desired:
High proficiency in AutoCAD, ArchiCAD or Revit.
Comfort with hand sketching
Expertise and real world knowledge of design processes, principles, construction methods, and in creating detailed construction drawings with proper notation for permits
Expertise in sourcing from trade-only and artisan/maker resources and designing custom furniture. You stay on top of all the latest modern/contemporary designers, vendors, products, etc.
Performance Skills Desired:
Great communication skills (clear, proactive, and direct for both written and verbal) to interface with vendors, contractors, clients, and teammates.
Highly organized with the ability to break down a large project into smaller tasks and sequence the tasks appropriately
Expertise in project management, taking projects from start to finish, working on all steps along the way, and requiring little supervision
Excellent attention to detail - you double-check your work and learn from mistakes
Time management skills - knowing how much effort and time to put into the different priorities at hand. You don’t waste time on or present things that won’t work budget-wise or functionally
Highly motivated, proactive self-starter who has a strong sense of urgency and follow-through. You proactively research things that you don’t know or aren’t sure of
Flexibility to adjust priorities immediately to the business needs in a fast-paced industry (short deadlines, multiple projects)
Humility to do whatever is needed at any given time
Passion for everything you do - you’re constantly leveling up your work and you inspire others with your drive for excellence
Positive, easy-going attitude
Excellent customer service skills - courteous, professional, kind, and timely

Required qualifications:
· Min 3 years experience in residential remodel work
· General knowledge of framing

Skills Desired:
· Knowledge of electrical and plumbing is a plus
· General knowledge of multiple trades is a plus
· Drywall experience is a plus
